Saturday Morning on Hollywood Blvd.

The Artist is up and moving every Saturday morning to head to The Second City Training Center on Hollywood Blvd.

The entrance to the building is great because you pass photos of past Second City members.  There are also posters that show past and present comedy stars organized by the decades they were part of the Second City cast.  The displays highlight the amazing number of comedy stars that got their starts at The Second City.

It's exciting to watch Zach starting his Second City journey.

What's not so exciting...But always interesting?

Killing time on Hollywood Blvd on a Saturday morning!

The Saturday morning start time for the class is nice because I can find a parking space before the crowds swarm the area later in the afternoon.  The crowd is just starting to grow when I am hanging out on the street.

Parking in Los Angeles is such a pain that it's easier to find a space and kill time instead of leaving for a bit and then fighting for a space when the class is over.

The tour bus operators are beginning their day as I walk down the street.  They yell at everyone wearing a backpack, a floral shirt, Crocs or a out of state team logo jersey.  They all claim to have the best tour prices and they'll make sure you get the best seat if you ride on their bus.

The guys running the "Stress Tests" are always on the street trying to change your way of thinking about the world.

I always stop into the McDonald's on Hollywood Blvd to get a Diet Coke.  I love that place because it is the strangest/most entertaining McDonald's ever because of the crowd.  It's a mix of tourists, homeless people and hung-over struggling actors people looking for a cheap meal.

Every order at this McDonald's comes in a "to go bag".  You won't find any trays to carry the order to your table.  There had to be someone, at some random point in the past, that used a tray as a weapon in that place.  That's my theory on the "to go bags" policy.

If you don't want McDonald's for your meal, you can always buy food from a street vendor.  The odd thing is none of the street vendors operate out of a cart.  They all have open-air grills they use to prepare the food.  I can't help but think using those grills can't be the least bit sanitary!

I've started to play a game to kill time called "Where Is The Tourist From????"  I'll pick a random tourist group to follow until I can determine where they live.  I'll take a photo of the tourists and text it to various friends across the country.  They have to guess (based only on the photo) "where is the tourist from????".

There are no actual prizes for playing the game.  The only prize is the satisfaction of giving a correct answer!

I always like to walk past "In Person Inc".  They are a business near the corner of Hollywood and Highland that hosts celebrity appearances each weekend.  Their street team last weekend was promoting appearances by Charlene Tilton and Charles Fleischer ("The original voice of Roger Rabbit").

BTW...was there another voice of Roger Rabbit?

I complete my walk around Hollywood Blvd by doing a quick loop of the various street characters.  It's always a treat to see Jack Sparrow show a Stormtrooper how to fire a gun.

After my quality character time, I'll walk back to The Second City to catch the end of Zach's class.

Give me a call if you're ever in Hollywood on a Saturday morning.  We can play the tourist game in person!

Do You Like Pretty Pictures???

Hey look!  It's a bunch of pretty pictures!   Enjoy some shots of The Artist in action in Hollywood!

Answering the question, "What kind of tree would you be?" at The Shoe Crew red carpet event in Simi Valley.

They just realized my fly is at half mast.

Outside "The Hot Flashes" premiere on Sunset Boulevard.

Not paying attention to my half-mast fly.  Simi Valley Saturday Night.

Representing Missouri before heading to the red carpet.

Waiting..and waiting..and waiting to film his scene in Pasadena.

Still waiting in Pasadena...But now he's waiting in the dark with his on screen brother.

The box office results show you haven't seen "The Lone Ranger".  I just saved you the price of tickets and popcorn with this free look at the movie costumes.
FYI..This photo has nothing to do with Zach.

This also has nothing to do with The Artist.  I just know that I want this channel!
